Jake Vanover was born on July 17th, 1994 to Mike and Sherry Vanover. He was raised in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, just a few miles from Renfro Valley. In his youth, his father played guitar and sang. Also, his grandparents played and sang in church. Naturally, Jake became interested in playing and singing at the age of 10 years old.
Jake was always surrounded by musicians and singers, whether in church or at jam sessions. He auditioned for a job at Renfro Valley, to sing on the Renfro Valley Barndance, and became the staff rhythm guitar player as well as a harmony singer. While working at Renfro Valley, he met his future fiancé Courtney. The two of them sang bluegrass and traditional country music together and were part of the Cumberland Mountain Music show, along side DLQ alumni Steve Gulley and his family. Later on, Jake left Renfro to be part of the Jeff Parker and Company band. Now, Jake is singing tenor and playing guitar for his hero. Jake will tell you that his musical influences include names like Jd Crowe, Tony Rice, Keith Whitley, and of course his new boss Doyle Lawson.
Jake currently resides in Mount Vernon, Kentucky. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and (most importantly) spending time with his family. Jake and Courtney have a boss themselves when they're home. His name is Bryson, and he's 3 years old.
